To recreate the Middle Ages, visitors were encouraged to come to the festival in period costume. Some were dressed as well-known historical figures, while others personified common folk going about their daily lives. Festival-goers felt like they were in a real town of the period, despite its fictitious name of Bourg-sous-le-Cap.
