The first flight over Québec City took place in 1911, in the early days of the motorized airplane. Aboard a Morane-Borel monoplane, Belgian aviator Georges Mestach wowed the crowds at the provincial exhibition with a flying demonstration. Today, this aircraft is the last surviving example of its type and is considered to be the oldest yet-preserved aircraft to have flown in Canada.
