On December 3, 1985, UNESCO added the historic district of Old Québec to its World Heritage List. Here is the certificate of inscription, which recognizes the site’s “outstanding universal value” and encourages its protection “for the benefit of humanity.” This is the first time such an honour has been bestowed on a city north of Mexico.
