The lesser-known face of Place Royale
In the 19th century, Place Royale lost its status as Québec City’s marketplace and gradually became a tourist destination. The homes there changed to serve new functions and, in doing so, their facades lost their original style of the French Regime. Then, in the 1950s, the area deteriorated rapidly, erasing any signs of the past.
