The St. Lawrence seen from Puiseaux Point in Sillery
In this piece, James Pattison Cockburn illustrates the “log cove” in Sillery, near Québec City. There, timber cut in the surrounding forests was floated downriver for export. Around 1830, Sillery became a small village, with docks belonging to the Pemberton Brothers, as well as gardens, buildings and even a tavern!
