Québec, as seen from the John Goudie Wharf
Born in Scotland in 1775, John Goudie settled in Québec City at the turn of the 19th century. There, he became an important local businessman. He operated a large shipyard in the Saint-Roch district. This piece by Cockburn shows Goudie Wharf. Starting in 1818, a steamboat provided regular service between Québec City and Lévis.
