The mill below the falls
The textile industry began to grow massively in 1870. Mills for processing cotton were built along the riverbanks where hydraulic energy could be harnessed. In 1889, a mill was built at the foot of Montmorency Falls. The company would later become Dominion Textile. The company employed a large number of workers up until it closed in the 1990s.
