International dog sled race
Excitement came to Charlesbourg in 1930 when an international dog sled race passed through the village centre. During the three-stage race, racers covered 40 miles a day, starting in Québec City and finishing in Stoneham, via Lac-Saint-Charles. That year’s winner, Manitoba champion Emile St-Godard, achieved the feat in 11 hours, 1 minute and 27 seconds.
