Place Royale during the Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France
Considered the historic heart of Québec City, Place Royale was where the colony’s development began. It is identified as the site where Samuel de Champlain established the first fortified post in 1608, the first dwelling in New France. Notre-Dame-des-Victoires is also the oldest stone church in North America.
