Louis de Buade Comte de Frontenac was governor of New France for many years. He helped develop the colony and protect it from British attacks. In particular, he led the first Battle of Québec in 1690 during the inter-colonial war in North America. Frontenac’s army won this battle against Major-General Sir William Phips.
