Although Québec City’s 400th anniversary festivities were launched on December 31, 2007, the actual date of the quadricentennial was July 3, 2008. Many activities were organized to mark the occasion. That morning on the steps of city hall, Mayor Régis Labeaume was surrounded by soldiers from the Royal 22e Régiment for the traditional Freedom of the City ceremony.
