The People’s Summit was launched by local and international organizations as a counterweight to the Summit of the Americas. To make their opposition to the free trade agreement known, these activists marched peacefully through the streets of Québec City by the thousands. This march contrasted with other demonstrations, which were marked by clashes between some participants and the police.
