The second half of the 20th century saw the modernization of industrial equipment. Processes were automated to increase businesses’ efficiency. This was particularly true in the manufacturing sector, which had to either update all its machinery or relocate. It was in these circumstances that Dominion Corset was bought out in 1977 and again in 1988. The factory was then abandoned and production moved to the Vanier district.
