Aerial view of the agricultural exhibition grounds, circa 1930
We see from this aerial view that the agricultural exhibition was originally held in a rural setting. The Palais Central and racetrack in particular were still largely surrounded by fields. The racetrack hosted not only horse racing but also motor racing. Due to dwindling public interest, it closed down in 2011.
