Established in the Saint-Roch district in 1871, Guillaume Bresse and Company was bought by Georges-Élie Amyot in 1897. The businessman renovated the factory to start Dominion Corset. A fire ravaged much of the building in May 1911, prompting its reconstruction. The work did not take long: the new building was inaugurated that same year! Designed by architect Georges-Émile Tanguay, the new factory opened in December 1911.
