Les Galeries Charlesbourg shopping centre opened in the late 1950s. It symbolized the transformation of Charlesbourg from a village to a suburb of Québec City. In this image from 1973, we can see that the mall had a Steinberg grocery, a store in the well-known chain founded by a Quebec family of Jewish and Hungarian origins.
