Sainte-Foy officially became a municipality in 1949 and experienced a major demographic boom in the 1950s. Several parishes were formed there over the following decade, including Saint-Thomas in 1950 and Saint-Yves in 1953. In all, nine ecclesiastical circumscriptions were established between 1950 and 1964 as a result of residential expansion.
