Black-and-white photograph of Maurice Bastien, Sr., founder of what would eventually become Bastien Industries. He was elected Deputy Chief of the Huron de Lorette band council in 1854. In 1883, he was elected the community’s first Grand Chief under the Indian Act of 1880. He held this position until his death in 1896.
