The first golf club in the region was the Quebec Golf Club, founded in 1875. It was the second oldest golf club in North America, succeeding the Montreal club established two years earlier. Originally located on the Plains of Abraham, the Quebec Golf Club was transferred to Boischatel in 1925. Of British origin, golf was mainly played by the local English-speaking elite until the middle of the 20th century.
