The 171st Battalion (the Québec Rifles) was part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force that fought in World War I. Recruitment took place over the winter of 1915, and training was held in Québec City and at the new Valcartier military base. This image shows the Battalion in 1916, the year it left for England. There, it was dissolved and its soldiers were reassigned.
