South African War memorial
This monument was inaugurated in Old Québec on August 15, 1905. About 270 Canadian soldiers died in the South African War. Canadian troops stood out for their tenacity in battle. Five soldiers were awarded the Victoria Cross. The military nurse Georgina Pope was awarded the Royal Red Cross.
