Founded in 1867 by Hector Fabre, the daily newspaper L’Événement kept people informed for a century. The institution’s success was due in no small part to its many employees and contributors. Of particular note is Émilienne Larocque, who headed the newspaper between 1909 and 1921. At the time, she was one of the first women to run a newspaper in Canada. Throughout its existence, L’Événement was a true school of journalism.
