“Canada’s role in the gigantic struggle to secure the freedom of mankind will never be forgotten [translation].” Clementine Churchill, the wife of Winston Churchill, spoke these words in French when she addressed Canadians on Québec City radio. Lady Churchill played a central role in the development of the International Red Cross.
