British prime minister Winston Churchill was cheered by the crowd at Place de l’Hôtel de Ville during the Québec Conference in 1943. Churchill was accompanied in the procession by Canadian prime minister Mackenzie King and Québec City mayor Lucien Borne, whose ambitions for his city were bolstered by these conferences.
