Near Cap-Rouge, on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, 1841
The small town of Cap-Rouge is located near Québec City, on the northern shore of the St. Lawrence River. In 1841, artist Philip John Bainbridge painted this watercolour of the area. Many cultural objects of the time can be seen in this piece, such as the decorated cart, the tools, the types of hats and the tall structure in the garden near the house.
