The Saint-Jean Street tramway line
In 1878, the Upper Town inaugurated its first tramway line, run by the Compagnie de Chemin de Fer Urbain Saint-Jean. Going down Saint-Jean Street, it linked the famous Château Frontenac with De Salaberry Avenue. The offer was then rounded out by stagecoaches, which served certain cemeteries and convents as well as Notre-Dame-de-Foy Church.
