Panoramic view 4 of Québec City and its surroundings, from the turret of the Québec City prison
This oil painting presents the viewer with the majestic St. Lawrence River. The densest part of Québec City and the port can be seen on the right. Logs float on the water near the riverbank, on their way to the paper factories and construction sites. Log drivers took such timber down the St. Lawrence River every spring. Much of the timber industry was concentrated in Sillery.
