View of the inside of the Recollect friars’ church
This engraving shows the interior of the Recollect church in Québec City after bombing during the Conquest. Cannonballs had left holes in the ceiling and floors. Adjacent to the Place d’Armes, this religious building was completely destroyed in 1796. We owe this engraving to the British naval officer Richard Short.
