This sanctuary lamp is made of solid silver. In the Louis XIV style, it is ornately decorated with angel heads and floral motifs. The red lantern must remain lit at all times, to symbolize God’s presence. It was probably imported from France toward the end of the 17th century, but it bears neither hallmark nor coat of arms.
