Louis Hébert at sowing time
Founded in 1608, the Québec colony was initially a trading post for the fur trade. In its early years, the site was occupied seasonally by French traders. Arriving at the Québec colony in 1617, Louis Hébert and his wife Marie Rollet were the first French couple to settle and farm in the colony.
