The Battle of Québec of 1690
This engraving depicts the 1690 fighting in Québec City. Under the command of French governor Louis de Buade de Frontenac, the city repelled an attack led by British admiral William Phips. The battle ended in a French victory. Québec City remained under French rule for several more decades.
